My Career

I started playing lacrosse my freshman year of high school at Episcopal School of Jacksonville. Considering I had been running Cross Country since 7th grade, I wasn't the biggest dude on the field, but I had the most heart. What I loved about Lacrosse was that if you got hit, you had to get back up and keep moving, no exceptions. The fast pace and aggressive playstyle of this sport created an exciting and challenging battle every time I stepped on that field, practice or game. This fueled my passion for the game and made me want to get better each and every day. My truly favorite aspect of the game though was the fact that whoever wanted it more, got it. Whether It was a 1v1 drill, a ground ball, or even a foot race, the game was based on effort. If you could give everything you had on a play, chances are you would come out victorious, since the guy competing against you was probably slacking.

As my passion for the game continued to fuel, my passion to started to inspire others. Within the first two weeks of practice my Sophomore year, my coach named me the only captain of our team, his limits for the number of captains resembled how important that title is to him, and how much of an honor it is to us. We had a very young team my sophomore year, with lots of talented freshman that had moved up to play with the older guys. My Coach explained to me that I had to take initiative and lead this team, he emphasized that my maturity and composure as a leader is exactly what our team needed to be successful. Realizing I was now taking on the responsibility of being a role model for almost 20 people was a big wake up call for me. This meant I had to carry myself in the best way possible, and symbolize what it means to be a true and good man who does what's best for his community and friends. I noticed quickly into the season many of the freshman looked up to me almost as an older brother, and with two brothers much younger than me, this was going to be a new experience. Nonetheless, I took the step and led these young men to an amazing season full of grit filled comebacks, and energized bus rides. That's my experience as a Highschool Lacrosse Player.
